Viennese bass
In our master workshop, double basses are made entirely by hand, as was done in the 18th century. Due to the intensive manual work, which takes several hundred hours per instrument, our instruments are only available on request. In addition to numerous professional musicians, our instruments are also played here, for example, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Slovak National Theatre, City Theatre Klagenfurt, University of Arts Graz, and many more.
Our Viennese model is based on bass by Johann Joseph Stadlmann. Through the study and repair of countless Viennese double basses of the 18. and In the 19th century, we adapted and modernized this bass. A bass that can do everything, this model is made as a 4 or 5 string and used by many professional musicians and orchestras. Be it as a solo bass with the Wiener Symphoniker or the Slovak National Theatre, as an orchestral bass, or as a solo bass in the hands of important musicians. Scale: 103 – 108 cm as desired.

Lots of working hours go in our Italian oil varnish, and even more working hours go into the work of antiquing it. Carefully placed wear and tear, little damages go into making this new bass look old. Every „dent“ has a story, we just tell it fast. Our luxury package gives the impression of an old bass.
This is one of our 5-String “convertible” basses. It can easily be mounted as 4-String bass (Solo, Orchestra or Jazz). The instrument is delivered with two tailpieces and different bridges to accommodate every need. Changing the bass from 5 to 4 strings (and vice versa) can be done by yourself. After we teach you how to do it in our workshop.

This instrument has already been heard with one of our favourite orchestras at hundreds of concerts worldwide! An identical bass of this model from 2017 is also used by the solo bassist of the orchestra.
